Our Mission & The Playground Enhancement Fund

We invite you to join us in raising $100,000 for the second phase of improvements to the playground at Wayzata Community Church Nursery School (WCCNS).

Over the past few years, we’ve partnered with private donors, parents, and teachers to replace and upgrade our playground equipment. This ongoing project is an invaluable investment in our school, students, and community. Now, we’re thrilled to move forward with the second phase of this effort.

Where Your Support Goes

Funds raised at The Nursery Royale on March 8, 2025, will be used to rebuild and improve parts of the existing playground. While some components have served us well for decades, they have worn down over time. Our goal is to create a safer, more engaging, and enjoyable space for the children.

Our Vision for the Playground

We are excited to share the below renderings of the proposed improvements we would like to make to the existing playground at WCCNS! Our vision includes replacing the current ~50-year-old treehouse with one constructed from more durable materials while adding a second treehouse for increased interaction and activity. The two new opposing cedar treehouses stained in bright colors will be joined by a platform bridge with netted rails. The existing retaining wall will be reconstructed with more durable materials which will allow us to incorporate an outdoor learning space with increased functionality.

The new treehouse design will include flower boxes on the windows, wrap-around balconies for increased visibility, and skylights to add light to each space. We would also like to add a new climbing feature to the side of the treehouse structure and incorporate the existing ~15 ft slide the students love so much. Other improvements include the addition of log balance beams, low monkey bars, and stepping stones to encourage the development of fine and gross motor skills.

While final plans may evolve based on fundraising dollars and construction costs, we are inspired by this vision and the positive impact it will have on our school and community.

Our Vision

“It’s the things we play with and the people who help us play that make a great difference in our lives.”
